My NT4 servers tend to remain up for several months at a time (3+)

If you have a buggy app, then restart the app every now and then.

But hey, if you have the latitude to reboot frequently, then more power to
you.

So do I, but I dislike "extended" downtime worse ... which is why I like to
reboot NT4 servers occasionally. So much "crap" goes through the servers
that their performance tends to degrade as they remain running. Having the
BIOS(es) run a check on everything once in a while makes me feel warm &
fuzzy. I like warm & fuzzy.

Now, I agree, once a day is too much, but once a month isn't. I didn't have
SQL on NT4, however. SQL on our W2K Server was such a joy - never reboot!
:) And our Oracle software consultant required us to shut down and restart
the server EVERY DAY. ??

Like the other prevalent thread today wrt CD-burning, it sounds a bit more
like SysAdmin opinion than an industry standard/fact. Agree?
