Under add/remove programs, while in safe mode, can you uninstall the security roll-up?

I was able to do the upgrade with no issues. I started to apply the security updates from the Internet. I did the security roll up package and after it rebooted, it would freeze at the Windows 2000 Logo Screen. It gets about 60% across on the status bar and then freezes. I can get in under SAFE mode but nothing else under F8.
