Let me turn this scenario a different way:

What need does Novell serve in your environment? What processes require
Novell that aren't already replicated to some degree with AD? What is the
reason to keep Novell.

Frankly, you can substitute any platform (including AD) in place of Novell
in the above questions. The real question is what does System X bring to the
table that only System X is capable of providing, and is that enough of a
benefit to offset the administrative overhead of continuing to manage two
platforms?
