I have also been disabling it, and my clients in quesion are hooked up via
shared(!) 56K modem (singular).

Win Auto Updating is a project for my business in Q1 '03. I have tried (not
bought) some nice tools that manage this stuff, and in fact just minutes ago
downloaded HFNETCHK from MS so I can check the status of hotfixes w/out
visiting every PC and hitting "Windows Update".

Are you asking about the best way to disable the automatic update feature?
I'd bet it's a reg hack that can be hit by a login script, but I haven't
personally put much time into it yet.

Subject: Windows Auto Updates

I've seen a couple of articles (one today in Winnetmag.com) that
recommend admins enable and configure the Windows Automatic Updating
service on their boxes, as a more-or-less painless way to keep up with
them. So far I've been generally disabling that service on my boxes, is
there a concensus out there of whether this a reasonable way to do it?
A better way?
