I've had it in production since a few days after it was released. I
deployed the client using AD and everything has been working smoothly
ever since. You just have to check in on the SUS server ocassionally
and approve whatever updates it has downloaded and that are appropriate
for your environment. After they are approved, the clients start to
pull them immediately.

I scheduled my workstations to reboot at 2AM the day after they receive
the updates, and the non-critical servers to reboot once a week on
Sunday early AM for the installation of updates if required. The
critical servers download the updates but do not install until I tell
them to.

Initially, the updates were taking quite a while (couple of weeks) to go
from available on regular Windows Update to the SUS server downloading
them, but now it seems like it happens simultaneously.

Hope this helps.

Greg
