Make sure the First DNS site of the network is the first DNS listed in the machine.

Dynamic DNS is needed.

Also....I hope that this is not XP home...... No dice there (function disabled)

What shows up in the two machines event logs? Machine and DC.

I have a test ActiveDirectory domain here. I'm trying to add a Windows
XP workstation to it. Whenever I change the workstation computer
properties to try and add it to the domain, I have to wait an extremely
painful amount of seconds (although this is pretty much normal, yuck.)
until a dialogue pops up to tell me that "The requested computer can not
perform the specified action."

What a crock! The account I specified is a Domain Administrator. The
"requested computer" is a sole Domain Controller on an ActiveDirectory
domain.

I tried several variations on my username. [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Username. None worked. There's no error reported on the client or
server, there's no reason that I can see that this should be happening.
I deleted the computer account AD object.

Am I simply going mad? Windows is really starting to turn me into a
bitter, angry person!
