Textron owns Bell, Cessna, and EZ-GO as well as my division, so we couldn't prevent it. Previously we used Dell with great success and support for both desktops and servers, very few server failures over the last 4 years with Dell (six Dell servers): 1 DRAC card, 1 HDD, both zero cost, quick, knowledgeable tech support. Previous experience with Compaq several years ago was similar though. For my night job (contract for City of Cornelius, Oregon), I am the sole network guy and I have moved them exclusively to Dell - 3 PowerEdge servers (1550, 2550, and 4400, Textron bought a 4400 for my site at about the same time as well) and Optiplex Desktops. 1 desktop failure in the last 2 years (from 20PC's) and they sent a tech out and fixed it next day. Talking to their tech support guy we narrowed it down to "either motherboard, riser card, or power supply...since we aren't sure which we'll send out all three and replace everything". Now THAT was impressive - cheaper to send those three then to piecemeal it and spend more than that on time figuring it out. I have Win2K on all machines there, server and desktop alike. A couple years ago Textron flew me out to R.I. to install a webserver that they had ordered from Dell with Linux instead of Windows, and they wanted me to put W2K server on it. NOT PRETTY and not a way to save $$, FWIW. Our desktop support person here also has very complimentary things to say about Dell's support, especially vs Toshiba (was our Laptop supplier) and IBM.
