I my experience when this kind of thing happens it is usually down to an alert waiting for user response. Check the Alerts tab to see if there is any entries there. Sometimes you will get an Alert prompting you to Eject or Remove the tape. It may not do anything until you do so, it will just wait for you to respond to that alert. Other things you could, obviously, do is check the NT Event Viewer (assuming its a Windows server) to see if there is any service or application errors there re Backup Exec itself.
