Alex,
you do not need to install ndpi, just compile ntop from source, and ndpi
will be downloaded and compiled

Ahh OK, I'll take it from the top again. I didn't realise it did that.
With my manually compiled and installed nDPI I got linker errors when
ntop was building [after having manually copied all the nDPI headers
to /usr/local/include - another build issue?]
