if you have an old (i.e. not the SVN verstion) ntop version you cannot
use the nDPI code that is in SVN as the nDPI code changed.

you do not need to install ndpi, just compile ntop from source, and
ndpi will be downloaded and compiled

Ahh OK, I'll take it from the top again. I didn't realise it did that.
With my manually compiled and installed nDPI I got linker errors
when ntop was building [after having manually copied all the nDPI
headers to /usr/local/include - another build issue?]
