Ok, let me get right on that.

Quoting from the BUILD-NTOP.txt file in the newest (2.1.3) ntop tarball:

3. Build ntop

   - cd ntop
   - ./configure
   - make
   - make install

hehe - ok, let's see:

gateway# pwd
/tmp/ntop-2.1.3/ntop
gateway# cat configure
cat: configure: No such file or directory
gateway#

So, ./configure does not even exist. Luckily I know how autoconf works, so
I was able to continue.

So, back to your advice - should I still use BUILD-NTOP.txt ? Perhaps I
can somehow divine which parts of that file are pure fantasy and which
aren't ? Let me know.

In reality, I have compiled and installed on FreeBSD with 2.1.3, but believe
me, BUILD-NTOP.txt had nothing to do with it.

Oh and your `make install` process is also good for a laugh.
