Ok let me try this way... I have just re-read the docs/FAQ and didn't
find anything...
I am running Redhat 9
I am running NTOP 2.2.95
Ntop runs fine from the command line... ntop -i eth1
If I close that terminal the ntop process dies no surprise there...
So reading the docs, mans, etc... there is a switch -d to run as a
daemon
-from the http://www.ntopsupport.com/ntop-man-page.html
-d | --daemon
This parameter causes ntop to become a daemon, i.e a task which
runs in the background without connection to a specific terminal. To
use ntop other than as a casual monitoring tool, you will probably
want to use this option.
So I run the following from the command line... ntop -d -i eth1 and the
plugins don't load.
Not a big deal, I figure someone must have set ntop up to run
automatically when the system starts or as some sort of a daemon.
Just looking for help in how to do that before I engineer it myself,
which I don't mind doing, just don't want to re-invent the wheel.
Thanks
