Unknown how it got corruptedThe SW running on system cannot be reinstalled as
the source installation software no longer exists, and the vendor is 4 versions
ahead and the user requires this version in order to do his job, so I have to
make this pc workThe pc does not have a backup image and restore points are
corrupt
I need to find a way to reinstall MS networking, and I am beginning to think
there is no viable fix

Nuke and repave is not an option?

So how did this computer get into this condition? Either malware or disk
corruption? Either one would make me either restore from a backup or rebuild.

A couple of years ago I saw something similar, though I can't

remember if it was exactly the same thing. It had to do with the

Network <something> service not being started. I think it was the

Network Connections service. Are all the services whose names

start with Network running on the offending machine?

            Just guessing here--you might try:

            Cmd as administrator

            Sfc /scannow

And see if it will repair anything in the OS?

You may be faced with attempting a repair installation. I

haven’t had to face anything like this since Server 2000

and 2003 R2, but never had much luck (we used to have an

AV product that would break the stack sometimes upon

            uninstall).

I have tried uninstalling the NIC drivers which does not
