I am running IIS5. It is strange as the server is not crashing it is
just
saying that the connection with webmaster was lost. I don't know how it
can
lose connection with itself. I am trying to figure this thing out. I
think
it has a lot to do with my isp. I use Winpoet to connect. It shuts off
now
and then without notice. The net card that goes to the DSL modem gets
its
static ip and dns info from the isp. So if the winpoet connection goes
then
maybe that is the culprit. This does not help my web
applications.

Kind
of inappropriate to answer I don't wish to invite attack, but my excuse is
.............
Actually, it has been running for more than a year w/o this kind of
stuff happening, then I just had to start registry hacking to get rid of
Norton AntiVirus CE, I did not have the password and was determined to get rid
of it. Well I did get get rid of it, but instead of less problems now I have
more .........do I have backups ??? please don't
ask.........
I
have tried re-installing IIS, seems it had absolutely no effect.........on the
problem that is.
I
have applied Win2000 SP2 successfully,
Ideas are certainly welcome, and most certainly
appreciated.

How are you connected to the Internet? Cable
modem and cable router? MS Internet sharing? Are your DNS
entries set up properly on each machine? What service pack and
security fixes do you have on the machine that IIS keeps stopping
on?

Subject: Strange Win2k Site
access - WIERD!
I have sharing enabled on my win2k server that allows
my other machines to
connect to the net. One wierd thing is tht IIS
shuts itself off at
will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another wired thing
is that I can't get files over
AIM or ICQ from people. And the most
frustrating is that some websites I
can't get to and one that I
need is this link.
http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActivePerl/Download.html
I
can't get perl for nt becasue for some reason I can't
connect to that
site even though all my freinds
can??????????????????????
ANyone have aclue what could be the
issue???
