Joe, I haven't used roaming profiles in a LONG time, but when we did, they were super slow because the profile includes the temporary internet files and on some long time users those take awhile to copy from the server.
I don't know if it's the default anymore, but if it was I would opt not to copy temp internet files as part of the profile (we also had users who were truly roaming, not between two machines that were their own, but in a lab environment with users sitting down at a new machine every day.) -troy From: Joe Heaton [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, January 08, 2008 11:27 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: Pros and cons for roaming profiles? We want to have him use his current local profile as the roaming profile. So here's my procedure: 1. Log onto the current client computer 2. Copy current local profile to \\server\profiles\username<file:///\\server\profiles\username> 3. Change profile type from Local to Roaming 4. In ADUC, put in the path \\server\profiles\username<file:///\\server\profiles\username> under the Profile Tab for this user. 5. Reboot client computer and have user log in. He should now be using the Roaming profile. This can be tested by logging into the laptop this user is going to be using on the road. Is this correct?
