That is another question we had.  Once the user has logged into the laptop 
while connected to the network, gets the roaming profile downloaded, etc.  When 
we disconnect the network cable, then login using the cached network 
credentials, is the profile cached also?  Or are we going to get some error 
saying "I can't find the server holding my profile, you idiot?"

The first login is paifully slow.  Subsequent logins to a particular 
machine go much faster once a cached profile is present.
