+1 on QEdit back in the day.

 They are still around. It was from Semware
http://www.semware.com/

They now call it now The Semware Editor (TSE), the Junior version is what
used to be called QEdit.
They also have a pro version.
I still have it, but must confess I don't use it so much anymore. Now
notepad++ or PsPad or Eclipse
Vim that someone mentioned brings back memories. I liked being able to
delete or copy a few lines without having to mark them first.
