I am thinking from the Windows 2003 Cluster side of it ( I haven’t done anything with Windows 2008 clustered) that you must add the new disks as as dependent resources of the SQL Service, before you remove the old ones) (Along with both nodes needing to know its cluster aware) and then you need to copy what was on the old disks to the new disks, and then remove the old disks.
If the old disks have the SQL service master, model, temp db’s you might be a little stuck on just trying to replace the disk. Most times when we had to migrate SAN’s it was done in the background ( disk to disk migration via EMC tools, so the host basically saw nothing, disk signatures, and disk letters and sizes stayed the same.) HTH EZ As a side note if anyone has a good write up on Windows 2008 Clustering step by step guide that would be nice to have. I know the windows 2003 document that Microsoft put out is what I use and its cake to take care of the clustering when needed, but in Windows 2008 I haven’t found a resource such as it to do a step by step setup, testing of failover etc etc. Edward E. So forgive me if the above makes no sense within the context of 2008R2 clustering. Also, what about the event logs. I would think that SQL would be screaming a lot of information if the service can't start.
