Purely for raid 1, or separate extra storage. I'm always paranoid about hard 
drives failing (they seem to fail for me more often than for most). Or you can 
swap out the HD for and SSD. Apple, of course had options for all of this at 
build time, but the apple price is ridiculous. Kinda like how Dell charges.
