Brian, I see your point, and i'm not disagreeing.....but I will point out that the Jason Samuel post does go through copying a profile over into the default profile.... If that is followed, then the profile specific customizations would stick.
You may want to update your blog post to reflect/address this, otherwise people may.get the idea.that you didn't read the whole article.
