  In my experience, latency is a *much* bigger problem than bandwidth.
 Bandwidth slows the transfer, but even giant Office files usually
aren't much bigger than a few megabytes.  That would still be less
than ten seconds on even the worst of DSL connections.  But add in
even 50 ms latency, and everything goes to he11 with most systems
designed for LANs.  What should take ten seconds takes five minutes.
