Is that a bad thing? My car goes through gas really fast too if I don't
shut if off when I'm not using it...and don't even get me going on how
fast the light in my refrigerator burns out when I leave the door open
for a week or 2 straight. ;-)

One thing about the Tilt GPS, it sucks battery life, big. I can only
get about 6 hours of life from my phone if I don't turn off the GPS when
I'm not using it.

Meh, at the rate they're moving on this, dont hold your breath. There's
some videos on youtube that show the difference in performance in common
GPS navigation programs.. Heres one:

It's not a terribly big deal for typical business use, but if you like
to play games or run emulators on your phone, thats a dealbreaker. Get
an 8525 and upgrade it to WM6 in that case, all the Tilt adds is
internal GPS and an external bluetooth GPS puck can be had for 20 or 30
bucks.

I sure hope they dont pull this fiasco with the X1!

No, it wasn't. But HTC has promised an update "soon" that is supposed to
improve video performance.

However, video performance doesn't seem terrible to me now. But as I
mentioned in another message, this is my first smart phone so I don't
have anything to compare it to.

Was this issue not fixed with the HTC ROM update that came out the end
of February? I thought it was.

I would personally hold off a few months on an HTC purchase, until
there's some news on the video driver front:

http://htcclassaction.org/

If I was on a GSM carrier, the one I'd be saving up for right now is the
Sony:

Since I'm on Verizon and my choice of smartphones is limited, I'm going
to try to extend the life of my XV6700 as long as possible (already
running WM6 on it) and hope for some Google Android action soon and/or
that Verizon's promise to open their network really comes to something
soon.

If your carrier is AT&T check out the "Tilt" it's made for them by HTC.
