My son has three phones too. One is a Blackberry for use in China, one
is for use in Australia and the third is for use in America.

Whatever it is to them, its an inhibitor to me.  I've never understood
the security aspect arguement myself.

I was an early US GSM adopter after seeing it in acting in Europe, and
I'd never use a device without a accessible SIM.

I own 3 phone of different size/functionality/geekness for different
occasions.  Going from one device to the other is as easy as swapping
the SIM.
