I had to wait for an open window of no users to try this.
I put in the registry change as suggested,
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem DWORD 1
and created a group with the suggested rights Traverse/List/Read
A couple of issues still
The system took 40 mins after adding the group to the share ( I did not
reboot), but it is responding better.
1) Are there any other possible fixes to speed this up?
2) The users can now map to Share1, but they get access is denied at the 1st
level. \\servername\share1
I need some users to actually be able to see multiple shares under Share1, but
not everything, just what they have rights to. What are the correct rights
settings for getting things setup this way. I'm trying a group with
Read/List/Read Attributes but that doesn't seem quite right
