+1 for OpenDNS.ORG! I just implemented it for two of my clients for these very reasons, and the price of free and the 2 minutes to config it are bonuses. It meets all your criteria...
Set your DNS forwarding to OPenDNS.ORG servers. THEN create an account, reply to the confirmation e-mail, sign in, and configure (don't forget to add a network to collect the stats) and yes, it's SUPER easy. This is related to a query / call for one of our Small Office customers on our helpdesk. The site has 2 servers with Win2k3.....15 users.... PIX firewall Some of the users were lately downloading music & and visiting porn sites and that was identified & some users were sacked instantly. Now the problem is that they dont have any budgets currently in hand to invest for a ISA 2006 + GFI solution which has already been suggested.... Now what I was thinking if I can find a product which is free but does the following 1. Log 2. Reporting 3. Blocking sites using categories. 4. Block chat sites... 5. Easy to configure and make changes (bare minimum training) Not to forget easy to deploy as I would hae to read tons of PDF's Cache is not an important feature as bandwith is not a problem but would be a bonus feature.... Possible solutions: 1. If this solution is linux based we can install VMWARE and run Linux in a virtual enviroment on one server. (I guess that would work) 2. I was searching around and came accross this product never heard of it before http://www.download32.com/safesquid-content-filtering-proxy-i26452.html 3. Any other suggestions What I am nverous off that I dont want to suggest a product which I have not personally used OR others have not used ....I am sure you know what I mean. I am sure I will get tons of reply :) ED -- Chris MCP ~ Upgrade to Next Generation Antispam/Antivirus with Ninja! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbelt-software.com/SunbeltMessagingNinja.cfm> ~
