We went from a Lucent analog hardwared to a patch panels prior to our last
move to VOIP.  We had to do this due to us rewiring all of the older
buildings.  Since we knew at that point we would have to replace the Lucent
in a couple of years anyway it made since.  We saw no degradation of the
signal and it made the later change much easier to do.
