Have you tried resetting the device itself? That helps sometimes.

I have found that it depends a lot on what OS the mobile device is running
if you will get a connection or not. I am not the brightest bulb but I
ended up having to replace the mobile device because of that issue. Some
OS's just plain will not connect. The Mobile device center also needed a
download from Microsoft just to get it to work as well but that is
documented on the Vista site some place.

Afternoon All,

Recently I replaced my XP laptop with a Vista laptop. I have been syncing my
Cingular (HTC) 8525 with both my dek computer and my XP laptop for a couple
of years. Only have the occasional time when the connections is not made.
usually fixed by rebooting both devices.

Anyway, the real question is how do I get this same phone to talk with
Vista. I have the Windows Mobile Device Center for Vista installed. The
device makes contact with the laptop and charges and says that it installs
the software but remains "unidentified" as a device. WMDC also makes no
connection with the 8525.

So far the googling I have done has not yielded an answer; just more
questions. Ayone have a process that works to make these two devices talk?

Thanks in advance
