I used to have Sprint when I traveled extensively. Worked all over the
country but coverage was awful at my house. Had BellSouth Mobility (now
AT&T) for awhile; could have service in my den and be roaming in my garage.

One night we were having a party and I asked everyone to try their cell
phones and see whose worked.  The folks with Verizon had no problems;
everyone else did. I soon switched to Verizon and have been pretty satisfied
since.
