Thanks, Andy. I just don't have the confidence that my data is being replicated. Eventually it'll be a moot point as we're looking at various SAN or NAS solutions for early 2010 purchase. I haven't decided what I'll get but I have a number of suggestions. I'm always happy with more suggestions. :-)

Just watch out for task overlap, I've seen people schedule 15 minute replication intervals for all deltas but it wasn't enough time to complete...task queue fills up, you get the idea. I've also seen some IT mojo worked with the Microsoft file server migration tool since it handles perms, shares, etc. I prefer Dfs if it's my call. Options abound, YMMV. Just a few syncs a day. But it is used for DR purposes, as you mentioned. I think I would like to go the DFS route once we get going in Win 2008. -----Original Message----- From: Terry Dickson [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, July 22, 2009 10:05 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: Data replication in real-time (or near real-time) So when you noticed that the data was not there did you check your DFS logs to see if there was a problem. We are currently using Windows 2008 and the only times we have seen this behavior were listed in the logs showing the DFS errors. The other reason was also listed in the logs, depending on the application that is creating/updating the file is file closure. DFS will not update a file that is still open, until the file is closed. -----Original Message----- From: Michael B. When attempting to access the DFS share, we noticed that sometimes the data is not there, depending on which server we access at the moment. I'm wondering what others are using for duplicating data between servers for D/R purposes? Is there some software out there that doesn't cost a bunch of money that'll duplicate the data in real-time or near real-time (within minutes of changes, I want the changes replicated.) Thanks!
