We started out using DFS under 2003-R2 for a remote office, to replicate data back to our location. We ran into the same sort of thing as you mention. My biggest beef was the lack of real-time monitoring to see what was actually going on. We ended up installing a copy of HP Storage Mirroring that we had spare licences for (which is basically rebranded Double-Take) and couldn't be happier with it. We are mirroring over 2 million files, at almost 2 TB of data this way, and I can see precisely what it is doing at any point in time. Just my .02 worth. Andrew
