The utility from this website has been working well on my laptop. We're considering rolling it out, mainly to prevent users from having a wireless unfirewalled connection direct to the internet when they're on our private network.
http://www.wirelessautoswitch.com/ When I cable up, it disables wireless; when the wired link goes down, the wireless re-enables. ________________________________ From: Roger Wright [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, September 22, 2009 9:44 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: GPO for Network Metrics? Laptop users sometimes have network issues when their machines are brought from home and docked in the office. If the wireless connection is still on, it'll take priority and try to use the configuration from the most recent connection. (This happened to me this morning; took a few minutes to troubleshoot.) Ideally, I'd like the wired NIC to take precedence over the wireless connection. I know I can assign metrics to the NICs to resolve this, but is there a method to do so via GPO so I don't have to manually configure each portable machine?
