and IIRC the batteries can be configured in an N+1 redundancy, allowing
online battery swaps or additions

Have you considered the Symentra (sp?) line from APC.  They are very
expensive but sound like what you want with the added advantage of they
could power the entire building from the generator.

OK, I've been frightened away from BatteriesPlus.  I don't care if they will
replace a bad battery in seconds.  I have no maintenance window.  If I need
to shut down a part of my network because the batteries are not hot-swap,
then the replacements had #@&$ better be good for a few years!
