UAC may be a pain in the arse but it *works*. A lot of the malware I see
these days limits itself to the context of the user's account. The
executables are dropped somewhere under %APPDATA% and the registry
changes are written to HKCU.

The only thing that keeps Macs relatively malware-free is the very small
market share.
