Been using Dell desktops for 10+ years, except for the GX270/280 debacle (swollen capacitors) the Optiplexes have been rock solid. Precisions seems to be more hit and miss, but I have ordered far fewer of them over the years (less than 10).
%dayjob% is Dell laptops and IBM servers. IBM does seem to offer more comprehensive support on their servers, but I have had much more experience talking with IBM support on their servers (4-5 times in the last 5 years) than Dell (once in 10 years). I've not had to call Dell in quite a while, as we dumped them on the server side in favor of IBM about 5 years ago. On the desktop side, we dumped them in favor of Lenovo a year ago. So, perhaps my experience with Dell is unfairly jaded, as it is old experience. My experience getting support on an HP StorageWorks unit a few years ago was absolutely abysmal....I hope things have changed...
