Good points. I was quite cognizant of not using Facebook and the like. This while this list has (I believe) publicly searchable archives, it's far less likely to be picked up than from a social networking site. I doubt they think I'm disgruntled (and I'm not too much, because overall this is an amazing place to work), I'll just start hitting the ball farther out of the park.
Jim thanks for your insight as well! And today, time to flip the switch on outsourcing Exchange for 450 users - of which I was center point at managing the project and coordinating with management and other teams and selecting the vendor and again also doing the work for the actual flip as well. Next week: Outsource OCS. Next month: Move SharePoint from in-house to outsourced. I cannot say I'm not challenged here... Dave From: Andrew S. The interesting catch-22 is that if you start proposing broad, strategic proposals, you often get told that you don't understand the full picture, and to just stick what what you were hired to do. My advice to David is to vent (offsite) for a little, then suck it up and do two things simultaneously: * Start making a few broad, corporate proposals that have a clear impact on revenue or the bottom line * Start looking at what the market might be able to offer you elsewhere Oh, and thank your manager's manager for the feedback in an email and in person. Whatever you do, do not disengage and retreat to a corner, as there will likely be some increased scrutiny of your activities for the next few weeks until they are comfortable that you are not disgruntled. I wouldn't have posted what you just posted via a corporate email. That's what webmail over HTTPS is for.
