Finally managed to get all cuda stuff installed! Many thanks for your pointers 
:)

Nuke running perfectly!

It took me a while mainly because the nvidia instructions are a little vague on 
certain areas; that and me not reading their instructions correctly…...

Anyway - for anyone out there who is trying to get cuda 6.5 installed on Ubuntu 
/ Mint 14.04 - check out this nice explanation
