Come to think of it, where would mobile computing be if Jeff hadn't done it for 16 years. Our lives are enriched today with many technologies thanks to Palm and Handspring. And today Jeff can spend time on NuPIC and CLA because I am sure he learnt a bunch of things there at Palm and Handspring - think Graffiti. And maybe even how to run a successful technology company. Also, in last 16 years, neuroscience and computing in general has gone ahead leaps and bounds. That does help as well, don't you think so?
