If this is the way open source technology works, its no wonder big companies are so freaked out as to even think about adopting it.
Byron,
I for one am very grateful to you for what you are doing and in no way wish to discourage you. I hope that you do not let others discourage you either. Open source is created in the public eye, and there are thus lots of free opinions about how things should be done.
I don't think you've done anything disingenuous or misleading. But when I looked at your site I somehow missed the "Engine" link, where you clearly give attribution to Nutch. And, for whatever reason, lots of other folks seem to miss this link too. I've had three inquiries today alone about the relationship between Nutch and mozDex! These are folks who don't read this mailing list, but folks who matter: journalists, venture capitalists, Google employees, etc. I think most folks read your press release, visit the mozDex home page and "about" page, maybe the FAQ, and perhaps perform a few searches. And, in doing so, they don't run into the word "Nutch". It would simplify my life if they did.
Keep up the good work!
Doug
