By the way, if you want to know whether any NIS server will allow you
to bind some other domain, you can query it with "ypwhich." For
example:

% ypwhich -d it.sfbay.sun.com mi-umpk17-01.sfbay
mi-umpk17-01
% ypwhich -d dublin.ireland.sun.com mi-umpk17-01.sfbay
Domain dublin.ireland.sun.com not bound on mi-umpk17-01.sfbay.
%

(I assume there are equivalent things for LDAP, but I'm too lazy to
check. ;-})
