I think you mixed up two things. We do need to have sysadmin to ascertain
the quality of the service level that a system provides. Accuracy and
usefulness of the information is more the IT layer which does not need to
tie to the system administration. If I udnerstand correctly, whoever
sysadmin is doing both.

Separate them! Let node owners control and manage their own node
information. Give the username/password information to individual node
owners!
