Hello Guys and all,

If you have a Linksys combo AP + router and your happy... then good.
The original reason I recommended users to avoid them was they tended to
have lower output power and lack of detachable antennas compared with other
APs (WAP11, ORiNOCOs, Cisco 350 Rugged). Hence, the non-recommended status
they got (notice past tense) by me. I'm a firm believer in the ability to
add an antenna in case your apt/house is too large to get full coverage.
This seems to have changed with version 2 of the Linksys BEFW11S4. Not sure
if it has all the functionality of the WAP11, but not a big deal if it does
not, since Linksys tends to add a fair amount of functionality in their
firmware as time goes on. As per the output power... Linksys "might"
(haven't seen posted specs on this) have realized this and fixed this
problem, since Linksys created an amp (to address the low power output in
version 1s).

In any case, I'll still stick with my herd of RG-1000s by ORiNOCO = Agere =
Avaya = WaveLAN = and now Proxim,
-Ben
