This is interesting... We should try to do some digging to find out how much power is really an issue. If you are sitting with your laptop for 2 hours, how much $$$ are you costing alt.coffee in electricity? I would have expected this to be only a few cents, but perhaps this is not the case?

Anyone interested in doing some research? Perhaps there are better, alternative solutions...

just a heads up to all those laptop users, i stopped by alt.coffee today
to catch up on email and get some good coffee, only to find new messages
posted all over the place. they're no longer allowing laptops or even
cellphones to use their outlets. The sign states it's because of
"liability and a few bad apples" (paraphrasing) but when i asked the
woman at the counter, she claimed it was my fault cause people like me were
lurking for hours using their electricity. (i always make a point of
buying things semi-regularly if i'm there for any significant time.)


maybe it's time to buy that ultrabay battery for my thinkpad after
all... ):
