This is interesting... We should try to do some digging to find out how much power is really an issue. If you are sitting with your laptop for 2 hours, how much $$$ are you costing alt.coffee in electricity? I would have expected this to be only a few cents, but perhaps this is not the case?

Anyone interested in doing some research? Perhaps there are better, alternative solutions...

The last time I was there, I sat online for probably six hours. Mind you that in that amount of time I spent over $25 on coffee, and several friends that dropped in during that time to see me spent even more. I realize that I'm probably not the norm, but if I'm not, then force your clients to pay. Stick a sign up saying "Laptop users must spend $2.50 an hour to use our internet and power, thank you, -Management". It would seem to me that since you can no longer smoke at alt.coffee, and there are plenty of other places to get coffee/sit for hours that have a much more comfortable environment, you wouldn't want to alienate any more customers.

Just my two cents.
