Unless they've changed their policy it's an opt-in system i.e. you have to log into "my vodafone" and set the preference to have PDF invoices instead of hard copy ones. I get sent an email when the invoice is ready - I'd prefer it to include the PDF invoice as an attachment so I don't have to bother logging it to get it. Mercury Energy do the same thing i.e. send me an email to tell me the invoice is ready but I have to go log in to get it. I don't know about the legal side of it, but I suppose you could argue that if you were never sent an invoice (and didn't elect to have notifications sent by SMS/email/etc) you don't know to pay it...
