Pro: Doesn't get in the way; can edit anything with it, and I will
still be able to use it in 30 years, when all the other IDEs have
bitten the dust and everyone has moved on from them to the lastest
fad. It out-edits anything out there, and with features others can
only dream off.
Cons: learning curve, but worth it.

None. That's the advantage of Emacs. Whatever language you are using,
you need only one tool.
I use vi(m) for the small command-line edit jobs.
