What makes you think that email address is not valid? Sure, a lot of email systems won't let you have a localpart like that, but it's perfectly valid.
Refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_address#Syntax for a plain English list of acceptable characters, and refer to the RFCs linked from there if you want the sources themselves.
