Symfony2 seems to be best practice.  I've had to do a little hit in
yii and I really didn't like it, same for kohana.  Ymmv of course. I
actually really like SilverStripe sapphire but it can be a a little
limiting feature wise sometimes, has a nice flow to it though.

If I were you and not considering rails -disclaimer: I've just jumped
ship for my next two projects and I really like it - I'd be looking
seriously at symfony2
