I would like to back port OAK-6208 [1] to the 1.6 branch.Before 1.6 oak-run compact had a way to explicitly enable/disable memory mapping of the tar files. Somehow this got lost in oak-segment-tar and one has to resort to nasty workarounds like setting -Dsun.arch.data.model=32 on the command line.
This does only affect tooling related code.@Francesco, Andrei, Alex, please have a look at the fix in trunk and share your concerns.
