Julian Reschke commented on OAK-9261:
-------------------------------------
(A) yes - but do we promise anything beyond fixing security issues?
(B) Users who use 1.6 because they *are* on Java 7 will disagree. If a user can
use Java 8, why would he/she still use an older Oak release?
My proposal is to leave 1.6 and 1.4 alone, and to recommend that people who
want a newer Solr version should update to Oak 1.8.
In any case, *if* we change the platform support, this needs to be tracked in a
separate ticket (and will require documentation updates and public
announcements).
> Upgrade Apache Solr to 8.6.3 and remove Embedded Solr Server
