I'm starting to think about replacing my 15 year Miyata that I'm using as a
commuter. The frame is OK but there is not really enough clearance around
the brakes to accommodate fenders. The rear spacing is also 125 mm. The
parts...well...let's not talk about those. Finding six-speed freewheels and
replacing worn out cogs is difficult not to mention that the 6 speed SIS
shifters are worn smooth and impossible to replace.

The new bike would be for commuting. Should I rebuild the old bike (can't
really solve the tire fender clearance problem)? A new touring bike? A new
cyclo-cross bike? How getting a road suspension fork?

The problem with getting a new bike is that...well...I would hate to ride
it. Commuting every day puts a terrible beating on my bike. The roads are
not so great.

All input is welcome
